Compass

Find shell commands in completions and history using plain language

How this project uses Jev

Input
A CLI prefix and intent, recent conversation, and candidates from native completion, local help, recipes and relevant shell history
Jev decides
A Choice ranks existing command candidates while a Noul assesses whether any fits; no-match results can return an empty list
Code executes
Shows suggestions for selection, then inserts the chosen command into the editable shell buffer for user review and execution. Missing keys or request failures produce an explicitly labeled local fallback

Evidence and limitations

The MIT license, Jev requests, probability validation and zsh insertion flow were reviewed without installing shell integration or calling the model. Online searches send intent, conversation and relevant history candidates; secret detection is heuristic. History can be disabled and offline mode is available. A CLI prefix is required, and complex arguments may need manual edits. Native completion and local help can execute their own commands, so retrieval itself is not execution-free.
